The Kano State Police Command has nabbed one of the inmates who had escaped from the Kuje Correctional Centre, following a break-in on the facility sometime in July, by terrorists.
The 25-year-old suspect, Abubakar Mohammed Sadiq, who is a native of Kaduna State, was arrested in Ungogo Local Government Area of the state.
The Spokesperson of the command, SP Haruna Kiyawa, who revealed this in a statement on Friday, October 7, 2022, reported that the escapee convict had been turned over to Nigeria Correctional Service, Kano State.
“The suspect was arrested at Rangaza Quarters, Ungogo LGA, Kano State on the 23rd of September, at about 6.00 pm after a tip-off. The Commissioner of Police directed that the suspect be handed over to the Nigeria Correctional Service, Kano State Command.”
The statement read:
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Abubakar Lawal appreciates the good people of Kano State for their continuous support, encouragement, and cooperation. Residents are however urged to continue to pray for the State, and the Nation and report incidents to the nearest Police Station and not take laws into their hands.”
