Kylian Mbappé’s representatives announced on Wednesday their refusal of mediation from the French football league – the LFP – in the ongoing dispute between the France captain and Paris Saint-Germain over €55 million in unpaid wages and bonuses.
Mbappé feels that PSG still owes him a signing-on fee, three months of wages, and an “ethical bonus” for the period – which the club feel the 25-year-old agreed to write off in August 2023. Real Madrid star referred the matter to the LFP’s legal committee who reconvened for a two-hour gathering on Wednesday with legal representatives of the player and club.
The sum due is patent from a cursory examination of the player’s payslip,” Mbappé’s representatives said in rejecting the need for mediation.
But PSG welcomed the offer of mediation – something they had been seeking for months. “The player has made repeated public and private commitments that must be honoured, having received unprecedented benefits from the club over seven remarkable years,” PSG said in a statement.
The LFP is expected to announce its ruling on the matter on Friday. The controversy adds spice to the fallout between Mbappé and PSG since his summer transfer to Real Madrid.
