The Labour Party, LP, has dismissed the Presidential Election Petition Court’s decision, upholding the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at the February 25.
This is coming after all the reliefs sought by the Labour Party and its candidate, Mr Peter Gregory Obi, were rejected by the Tribunal on Wednesday, September 6.
Obiora Ifoh, the National Publicity Secretary of the party had made the statement, shortly after judgment was passed. He had also said that justice was not duly served, adding that the party would be in discussion with its lawyers to decide on the next course of action.
Ifoh had remarked:
“We [the Labour Party team] wish to hail the grim perseverance of our team of lawyers who fearlessly challenged the rot in our system. We can only shed tears for democracy in Nigeria but we cannot simply give up on Nigeria.
“The details of the party’s stance will be presented after dialogue with our lawyers, after the Certified True Copy of the judgement is made available to the party.”
“Fans of democracy are hereby urged to remain focused and hopeful because a new [governance in] Nigeria is possible.” the LP spokesman concluded.
