The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the current governor of Lagos State, has been named the winner of the March 18 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
After receiving 762,134 votes, Sanwo-Olu won the election, defeating Labour Party candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, who received 312, 327 votes. With 62, 449 votes, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nominee Olajide Adediran, also known as Jandor, finished in a distant third place.
The Chairperson of the LP in Lagos State and the LP agent at the collation center, Ms. Dayo Ekong, responded to the outcome by rejecting it. She declared the election to be a hoax as she sang the second stanza of the national anthem, stating that The election is filled with violence, and people were enormously disenfranchised. She added that the Labour Party completely rejects the outcomes because INEC has reduced its bar.
