Nigerian comedian Lasisi Elenu has caused a stir on various social media platforms after he surprisingly said that he misses former President Muhammadu Buhari. The comedian, who is known for his humor in commenting on societal ills, had struck a more personal note in the latest comments over the country’s prevailing suffering, as he jokingly said he missed the former number one citizen.

In an audio Instagram post that was hilarious yet touching, the comic artiste, spoke directly with President Muhammadu Buhari and told him how he and his family are passing through trying times. His voice was emotional, but laced with a streak of his characteristic comedy to draw the attention of his fans to the comic and touching post.

Since the post went up, reactions have been coming in from different quarters online. While some followers laughed with Lasisi, others found in his words a lot of meaning in a current reality that many Nigerians face. Others went as far as agreeing with him, concluding that despite the controversies at the presidency of Buhari, his tenure indeed brought a certain level of order, after all. Some reminded critics of the struggles which marked his time in office and pointed to ongoing debates about leadership and governance in the country.
