LeBron James will be ready to team up with Luka Doncic at the Los Angeles Lakers after the blockbuster trade that saw Anthony Davis head to the Dallas Mavericks. The blockbuster deal was completed over the weekend, and Doncic was introduced by the Lakers on Tuesday.
After leading the Lakers to a lopsided 122-97 victory against the Clippers, James acknowledged that it had been an emotional challenge to have to send off Davis, his teammate for the last six years and a critical player on the Lakers’ 2020 championship team. “It’s been a lot,” James said. “AD is one of my best friends, and that’s hard. But “this is the business of basketball.”

Even in the absence of Davis, James is excited about what can become of his partnership with Doncic, calling the third-year player a “big-time player.” Their scoring, passing and leadership will take the team to another level, the four-time NBA champion believes. “Luka is 25 and hasn’t even reached his peak yet, but he’s done wonderful things. It’s going to be special.”
Doncic, who has missed games since Dec. 25 with a calf issue, is likely to make his Lakers debut shortly, with reports saying he could play against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday. The trade has sent the basketball world into a tizzy.
