Letters with Agony Uncle

Today, I’m going to be sharing with you two letters, one concerning relationship problems and the latter is about a young girl who wants to skip school so she can establish herself financially. Please take your time as you read.

Dear DOJ,

I have been dating for nearly a year and my partner doesn’t seem interested in me anymore. I think he may be more interested in his work partner, a woman half his age. I am pregnant now and feel fat and ugly, is there any hope for relationship?

Pour out your heart to him about how you’ve been feeling because of his recent change in affection towards you. You can ask him about his colleague at work and the relationship between them, you can’t just conclude straight on that they’re seeing each other, it might just be a platonic work type relationship.

The physical change that comes with pregnancy is normal, you’re taking care of an unborn child so you know you’d be eating for two and doing less stressful stuff. Don’t fret, just be focused on taking good care of the pregnancy. One thing is for sure, the baby in your tummy is his, and he can’t deny his own blood, as long as you’re bearing his child, I’m certain he still loves you deep down inside. Getting depressed about the way he has deviated from you in the relationship will not be a good start. Your mental health and the baby is what takes all prority right now. So for now, you have to take care of yourself and the baby, okay? When you’ve delivered, then we’ll probably be able to conclude about what’s next in your relationship with your partner.

Dear DOJ,

I am 16 years old and I want to leave school this year. My parents say its too early for me and that I should be trying to get into university. I think I am old enough to make my own decisions. I want to work with my friend Bolanle in SM marketing. Then I can start earning money to buy things. What do you think?

I’d like to ask though, why do you want to quit school at quite a young age? I hope you are not just venturing into this decision because your friend is doing the same, or just because it seems like a good opportunity to make money at a young age. Life is not really all about abundance of possession. It’s about your value, and what you can offer. I totally disagree with the country’s system of education because we just study courses that we sometimes end up not finding job opportunities for but nevertheless, education is still important. Yeah, money comes with a lot of power but at the end of the day, it’s a wise man’s advice that will save a city in crisis, money is just a tool.

I’m not at all against you quitting school to establish yourself in the entrepreneurial world, it’s not a bad idea as long as you’ve got it planned out. It’s a big and cold world out there, going out into it without a plan can be quite risky and challenging. So before you make this decision, make sure to ask yourself what you really want and why you want to do this. Do you think you can skip school for now while you focus on being an SM marketer, then later on when you’re established you can go back to getting your education? Have you asked Bolanle how the whole SM marketing works? Do you think furthering your education now will be a financial burden for you and your parents? These questions should be able to guide you in making the decision.

Thanks for your time again dear readers, don’t forget to send in any questions bothering your mind as I’m ever ready to answer.

Yours affectionately,

Your Agony Uncle DOJ
