After a breakthrough season, the Gunners have sealed the signature of 18-year-old Bournemouth Lewis-Skelly on a 5-year contract. The product of Arsenal’ s academy at Hale End is now a key under Mikel Arteta after being elected to the first team in December. Primarily playing at left-back, Lewis-Skelly appeared 39 times in all competitions including 23 in the Premier League.
“I’m so proud and happy,” Lewis-Skelly stated to Arsenal’s official site. “I’m a supporter of the club so signing this contract is like a dream come true.”
Beside the fact that Lewis-Skelly turned out to be a star at his club, his talent was also honored with a place in the English national team in March and he didn’t waste the opportunity, scoring on his debut in a 2-0 win over Albania at Wembley — thus marking himself as the youngest player to do so.
Speaking on his success so far, Lewis-Skelly mentioned: “With every game, I have learned, both good things and mistakes. I’m more ready for the coming challenges.”
Besides being very down to earth, he also said: “I want to leave footprints. I want to conquer all that is to be conquered and, at the same time, keep my personality and be humble.”
The fans of Arsenal will undoubtedly be extremely happy if one of their promising players, signs a new contract with the club.
