Marco Veratti has stated that his fellow teammate, Lionel Messi is the greatest footballer to ever graced earth, following Messi’s super fantastic goal for Paris Saint Germain in their 1-1 draw against Benefica, in the champions league game on Wednesday.

It’s incredible what Messi does, you never get used to it,” the Italian told RMC Sport after the Group H clash. “It’s in the simple things that you fall in love with him.
Jamie Carragher, Liverpool legend is also in support of Varetti’s opinion, as he believes that Messi is the best player in the world, and even though we’ve got other fantastic players in the history of football, Messi stands out as the greatest footballer of them all.
He further admitted that though not everyone believes this since Messi is yet won the world cup with Argentina, that’s why he is rooting for Argentina to win this year’s world cup games, for Messi to cement his status as the best player in the world.
“For me, who loves football like that, he is an example, he is the best in history.”

“But I would say that Lionel Messi is the greatest player to ever play football.

“I would love nothing more than in Qatar for Argentina and Lionel Messi to win the World Cup.
“Just to cement him, where I see him – but in everybody’s eyes, as the greatest player to have ever played the game.”
This is an assertion that not everyone will agree to, Ronaldinho once disagreed with the fact that Messi is the greatest footballer in the world, according to him, every football legend is unique in his generation, there have been great footballers like Pele, Maradona who were great footballers of their time, so it will be wrong to classify Messi as the greatest of them all.
Lionel Messi has quite a good portfolio as he has won the Balon D’or seven times, even Christiano Ronaldo Messi’s Long time Rival, is yet to win the Balon D’or title seven times, as he has won it five times and considering his age he might retire anytime soon.
