Chelsea made several new purchases this season, under Todd Bohely’s new ownership, as they spent over €270m this summer to strengthen their squad, which made them the club with the highest spending in a single transfer window.
Chelsea was also interested in Rafa Leao, AC Milan Winger. Paolo Madini confirmed that the blues indicated an interest in buying the player.
According to Madini, Chelsea did not send an official bid for Leao, but they did make a verbal Proposal for the Portugal player but they turned Chelsea down.
He further said that Rafa knows, that staying in the club is actually best for him, and they actually do need Rafa on the team for their project.
“Chelsea hasn’t sent any official bid for Leão — but they made a verbal proposal… and we rejected, of course.”
“He knows that staying here is the best way to improve. We want to do great things with Rafa Leao in our project,” Maldini said as per Fabrizio Romano.
