The police have apprehended a 20-year-old man named Babangida Isah, hailing from Tike quarters in Bajoga, Funakaye Local Government Area of Gombe State. The individual was paraded by the authorities for committing the heinous act of defiling a five-year-old girl, whose identity has been kept confidential.
During the suspect’s presentation, ASP Mahid Abubakar, the state Police Public Relations Officer, provided details of the incident. According to Abubakar, at approximately 5 p.m., a man named Yahaya Isah arrived at the Divisional Police headquarters to report that the accused had enticed his five-year-old daughter. He stated that the suspect had lured the child behind an Almajiri school and subjected her to a forceful rape.
They immediately arrested the suspect, who confessed to his crime, the victim and the suspect have been taken to the hospital for medical examination, and the suspect will soon be arraigned before the court.
Abubakar further explained, “Upon receiving the complaint, Isah, the suspect, was apprehended and willingly admitted to the crime during questioning. Both the suspect and the victim were promptly taken to the hospital for a thorough medical examination. The case is set to be expeditiously brought before the court for prosecution.”
He also sent a warning to other paedophiles, who take joy in defiling children, that the law would soon get them.
