Manchester United have tabled a new bid of £70 million for Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo, thus confirming their intention to complete the deal before their tour of the United States.

In a new offer to the Bees that is said to include £65 million guaranteed and £5 million in incentives, The Athletic reveals that it is a third United bid for Mbeumo after two previous ones. The first one was in line with the sum paid to Matheus Cunha (GBP 62.5 million) in summer.

The Brentford top scorer last season, Mbeumo, who scored 20 goals, said that he was willing to join the Manchester team. This deal had stalled before, with Brentford insisting on a higher price of about £70 million.

United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and chief sports officer Jason Wilcox have also expressed that they would not comply with the “patient” strategy and would not be “held to ransom” if they were to pay more than £65 million.

But as the club is eager to have their new player Mbeumo before going on the U.S. tour and Brentford has already started warm-ups, United are now prepared to meet the Bees’ asking price.

So far, the only senior signing of United is Cunha, and two young players, Diego León and Enzo Kana-Biyik, have also joined—Kana-Biyik, however, was immediately sent on loan to Lausanne-Sport.
