Manchester City have denied allegations that Erling Haaland injured the club’s mascot, Moonbeam, ahead of a Premier League game with Southampton in October. The woman inside the suit reportedly was left shaken after claims of Haaland playfully tapping her head while taking a picture caused injuries requiring hospital treatment.
The woman reported the assault to the police, and she brought the incident to City’s attention. The club investigated internally and reviewed the video footage but found no evidence of the claims.
“The club thoroughly investigated and determined that none of the evidence, including video footage, supported the claim that an injury occurred in the manner alleged,” a City spokesperson said in a statement.
Greater Manchester Police also confirmed having received a complaint but said no further action was taken. City also continue to press ahead with their Premier League campaign — Haaland has not commented on the situation.
