Despite Andre Onana’s resolve to remain and fight for a place at Old Trafford, Manchester United are very unlikely to bring the goalkeeper back into their team next season.
Onana, who is on loan at Trabzonspor, has been reported to be enthusiastic about doing pre-season and showing the new manager that he can still be an asset. The 30-year-old is convinced that there is room for him, and he doesn’t want to give up without trying one more time.
At the same time, United’s insiders hint at a totally different ending. The club’s directors are not only planning to let Onana go totally during the summer transfer window but also seeing this as a chance to improve the club’s financial status since his weekly wages, which are said to be £175, 000, are considered way too high for a second-choice goalkeeper.

Also, some changes in the goalkeeping line are anticipated, with Altay Bayindir, the one who is expected to leave, probably going back to Turkey. In addition to signing a new second goalkeeper, United are likely to carry on with their overall squad rebuilding.
On the other hand, Senne Lammens, the main goalkeeper of the club, has shown great form, making the club more confident about its current path.
If there is no big change of mind, Onana’s destiny will be outside Manchester, even though he would like to stay and play.
