Manchester United winger, Mbeumo, is expected to return early to face rival Man City Next weekend following Cameroon’s exit from the 2025 AFCON.

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon fell to the hosts Morocco by 2–0 in the quarters on Friday, thus wiping off Mbeumo’s international duty and making the forward eligible for a tie-up at Old Trafford. This comes at a point where United have gone through a stormy season, and thus Mbeumo’s return is very critical for them.

The 26-year-old has not played since mid-December but still tops the club’s goal-scoring chart and remains a vital player in the creation of the club’s big chances. The United team suffered a lot due to his absence; they were able to celebrate only one win out of five matches since he left for international duties.

Manchester United Set For Mbeumo Return After Cameroon Exit From AFCON

The 26-year-old has been a revelation at United since his summer signing from Brentford for a £65 million fee and has been leading the team not only in goals but also in expected goals, shots on target, and penalty box touches.

It is great news and an addition that Mbeumo will be available for the Red Devils, but United still has players away on International duties, and the management will watch other players closely. Noussair Mazraoui is still with Morocco as he has been actively participating in matches, while Amad Diallo is still in the tournament with the Ivory Coast.

Mbeumo’s return will definitely be a turning point for Man United as they look to salvage their season and get more momentum as the Manchester derby is coming up soon.
