Manchester United have reached an agreement with Brentford for their forward Bryan Mbeumo in a deal worth up to £65 million, including add-ons. The 24-year-old Cameroon international has agreed on a contract up to 2030, with a possibility for one more year and officially became United’s second summer signing after the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
Mbeumo had a successful season last year, he scored 20 goals and provided seven assists in the Premier League while Brentford finished 10th. His move is a statement of intent from United as they look at Mbeumo to lead their frontline for the 2025/26 season.
In an interview to the club’s official website, Mbeumo stated: “If I had a chance to come to Manchester United, I couldn’t miss it. My dream club is this one.” Besides, he was very happy to have Ruben Amorim as a coach and to play with “world-class players”.
Jason Wilcox, the United’s director of football, stressed Mbeumo’s reliability and called him “one of the most efficient players in England during the past three seasons.”
Mbeumo is expected to be a part of the Premier League Summer Series in the USA with the team and also to make his competitive debut in the season opener against Arsenal.
