The sensational first-half hat-trick from Omar Marmoush helped Manchester City to a resounding 4-0 win over Newcastle United, continuing a 16-home-game winning streak against the Magpies.
After their frustrating midweek defeat against Real Madrid, City answered emphatically. The hosts’s opener came in the 19th minute, when Ederson’s long pass freed Marmoush and the Egyptian forward produced a delightful lob over Martin Dúbravka for his first City goal.
And five minutes after that he had his second, slotting in from 18 yards out after good work by İlkay Gündoğan.
Newcastle, who had won their previous six away games, were unable to respond and City capitalized again before the break. Savinho’s pinpoint ball released Marmoush, who lashed home with precision to complete his hat-trick.
City continued to dominate after the break, with Dúbravka denying Savinho and Erling Haaland. Newcastle’s clearest opportunity came from Lewis Miley’s long-range shot, which Ederson saved. The hosts completed the rout in the 84th minute when James McAtee volleyed home from Haaland’s header.
The win moves City up to fourth place in the Premier League; for Newcastle, a third defeat in four games undermines their Champions League ambitions.
