Mercy Chinwo, a Nigerian gospel singer, has finally released a statement addressing her lawsuit against her former label boss and music producer, also known as Eezee Concept.
In a press statement posted on her Instagram page on Saturday, she described her relationship with the music producer, including how she went from being his background singer to becoming his client.
She claimed that he voiced his wish to extend her five-year contract to twelve years in the middle to late of 2019.
She declined , claiming that she had other commitments.
Mercy revealed that she started noticing Eezee’s hostility, along with his constant reminders about the contract at every opportunity.
He started speaking harshly and repeatedly about the contract, which felt unusual.
Chinwo said that during the fourth year, the relationship had become toxic, subjecting her to severe verbal and emotional abuse that had a profound impact on her.
She claimed the music producer would use statements like, “I will deal with you, I will mess you up, I made you who you are, I can shut you up, and nobody will hear you again, and I will destroy your career.”
Mercy Chinwo also shared that Eezee subjected her to intimidation, isolation, and bullying, and deceived others by claiming she was available for events when she wasn’t.
Mercy explained that her lawsuit isn’t aimed at demanding her catalogue. She only seeks the public release of the first three pages and the execution page of the 2017 contract she signed, which she claims he modified.
She wrote, “NOTICE: Long read
“All glory to God, whose grace and mercy have sustained me through every trial. I am deeply grateful to everyone who has prayed for me and stood by me, even without hearing from me. Your support has truly been a blessing.
“I never imagined I would have to share this part of my journey, but by His divine grace, I stand here as a living testimony of His love, faithfulness, and victory.
