The Miss Nigeria Organisation has issued a public apology to Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde following her uncomfortable experience at the 46th Miss Nigeria Patrons & Board Dinner.

The apology comes after a video from the event went viral, showing a young presenter asking the actress an awkward question during a live segment.

In the clip, the presenter said, “Alright, welcome to the 2026 Miss Nigeria dinner. I am currently living with…?” prompting Omotola to respond, “You are here with who? Should I tell you my name? You are not ready,” before attempting to walk away. She later agreed to continue the interview while seated.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the organisation clarified that the presenter involved was not officially invited to the private gathering and had no affiliation with the event.

“First and foremost, we wish to publicly extend our sincerest apologies to Omotola for the discomfort she experienced. She is a deeply valued member of the Miss Nigeria community, a close friend of the organisation, and a woman who has spent decades paving the way for young creatives in this country. She deserves the utmost respect and care,” the statement read.

The organisers explained that the Patrons & Board Dinner was a strictly invite-only event, adding that the presence of uninvited media personnel can lead to unexpected situations that catch guests off guard.

They further stated that the viral video did not fully reflect what happened, noting that several individuals reportedly invaded the actress’s personal space, contributing to her discomfort.

“There were multiple individuals involved who repeatedly invaded Omotola’s personal space, making her feel deeply uncomfortable and unsafe. The clip that has been shared was edited and does not reflect the full extent of what occurred,” the statement added.

The organisation condemned the conduct of anyone who approached guests without authorisation, describing such behaviour as unacceptable.

“It’s completely unacceptable, and we will not stand for it. Omotola was gracious enough to engage in good faith, and that goodwill was taken advantage of,” the statement said.

The Miss Nigeria Organisation also urged members of the media and the public to respect event guidelines and the privacy of invited guests.
