Ahmed Ololade, the Nigerian singer popularly known as Asake, has won the Best African Artist of the Year award at the 2024 MOBO Awards held in Sheffield, United Kingdom, on Wednesday night.
The ‘Amapiano’ crooner had beat fellow compatriots Davido, Ayra Starr, Rema, and Grammy-winning South African singer, Tyla and others to win the award.
With this win, Asake now joins 2Baba, D’Banj, Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy on the list of Nigerians who have won the same award Best at the MOBO Awards.
Meanwhile, another Nigerian singer, Limoblaze who is a gospel artist had won the Best Gospel Act award at the ceremony.
In like manner, British-Nigerian rapper, Tunde clinched the Best New Artist award.
British rapper, Central Cee, a British rapper had topped the winners’ chart with two awards: Best Male Act and Song of the Year for ‘Sprinter’ with British-Nigerian rapper, Dave.
Drake and 21 Savage also won an award . The pair went home with the Best International Act award while Soul II Soul was acclaimed with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
