Omowunmi, the widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, announced recently that she was open to getting a DNA test done for her son Liam, so his paternity could be proved. She mentioned this was a decision she made out of her own will and not due to pressures by the family of her late husband or from social media.

She stated that she had set preconditions for such a test and felt it necessary to make this choice on her own, rather than in response to external pressure.

She, however, confirmed the judgment with her legal team that is led by Monisola Odumosu. She added that it was a mutual settlement with the family of Mohbad. According to her, the test came as part of the agreement. Under the agreement, the DNA test will be carried out in a recognized medical facility in Lagos or anywhere that the parties can agree to, while costs will be borne by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba.

To make the testing process transparent, the judge has appointed officials to oversee this procedure, thus adding even more credibility to the system. This is after a request by Mr. Aloba through the judicial system aimed at confirming the paternity of his grandson.
