It was themed “Black Sunday” on June 5, 2022, when unknown gunmen invaded the St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, where unsuspecting worshippers were having their usual service, they attacked and killed 41 members of the church, leaving the whole Ondo State in tears over the incident.
Well, since the attack, the church has been closed ever since, but the church was opened yesterday, Easter Sunday, 10 months after the attack. The church was filled to the brim as hundreds of worshippers came to the church for Easter Sunday.
However the church premises was heavily guarded by security Operatives, both in uniform and mufti, men of the Ondo state police Command were seen patrolling the area.
Despite the incident, it was all joy and smiles on the faces of the members, although some said coming back to the church, brought back memories that they wouldn’t like to remember, however, they are happy about the security Operatives stationed at the church premises.
