In response to a tragic gunfight at Moldova’s primary international airport, the country has named a new interior minister after the resignation of the previous official.
Colonel Adrian Efros, who had previously served within the ministry, was sworn in along with two other newly appointed ministers at President Maia Sandu’s residence.
The incoming ministers, which include Science and Education Minister Dan Perciun and Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu, have taken the place of their predecessors, who stepped down without providing a specific reason.
The opposition had demanded the resignation of former Interior Minister Ana Revenco in the aftermath of the shooting incident at Chisinau airport.
The violent encounter, which took place on June 30, involved a 43-year-old Tajik man who, after being denied entry to Moldova, tragically killed two security officers and injured a civilian before succumbing to his own injuries sustained during the exchange of gunfire.
