Walid Regragui, ex Morocco defender has been announced as the new head coach for the Atlas Lions by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation. This announcement was made in a press conference in the Mohammed V Casablanca stadium, in anticipation of the world cup games slated to start on November 20 and Dec 18.
If we can recall, Valid Halilhodzic, the former head coach of the team was sacked last month due to irreconcilable differences, after he had an issue with Moroccan star player, Hakim Ziyech.
The Atlas Lions are sharing the Group F category with Canada, Belgium, and Croatia. Morocco is the first African team to ever go to the second round of the world cup games, and that feat was achieved in 1986.
