Mourinho Leads Klopp in Race for Real Madrid Job

Jose Mourinho has been identified as the main candidate to replace the coach at Real Madrid, though Jurgen Klopp is also being considered as the Spanish giants are planning for next season.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly well informed of Mourinho’s strong eagerness to get back to the Santiago Bernabéu, a place where he worked as a coach from 2010 to 2013. The former Chelsea and Manchester United coach will probably not only be available but willing to take up his old post this summer, which makes him the most likely candidate, as Madrid wants to move quickly.

Madrid’s top management wants to avoid any delay in making major decisions about the squad, which has led to things being put on hold for the moment. Besides that, they will need to buy a central midfielder and a defender, and deal with other issues internally as well, such as players who are coming back, the team balance, etc.

Jürgen Klopp, who is in talks with the Red Bull football structure, is a highly regarded alternative. The only problem is that it is not clear whether he will be ready to quit his present job and come back to full-time management. If he does show interest, the matter can become a race very quickly.

There are a few very small issues, such as Mourinho supposedly having a falling out with Vinicius Junior; the Portuguese is still the first choice, and Real Madrid is pressing for a decision before the end of the season.
