Popular Nigerian skit maker and singer, Lawal Nasiru, better known as Nasboi, has survived a car accident while on a cross-country mission to secure a music collaboration with Afrobeats star Davido.
The entertainer, who set out on a nationwide tour to visit all 36 states in Nigeria as part of a bold campaign to attract Davido’s attention, revealed on Tuesday that his car crashed into a stationary trailer. Though he did not specify the exact location of the incident, the news quickly stirred concern among fans online.
The accident occurred roughly a week into his journey, which he began as a creative effort to turn his dream of working with Davido into reality. Nasboi’s unique campaign involved traveling to each state and kneeling as a gesture of humility and appeal for a collaboration.
Following the crash, the Umbrella crooner took to Instagram Live to assure his followers that he was safe and unharmed. Appearing composed, Nasboi noted that the accident could have happened anywhere, including in his home city.
“This could have happened in Lagos too. I don’t even know how it happened; I’m just laughing,” he said. “At this point, I think I need to give up. Thank God nobody was injured or killed. We are all good.”
Nasboi rose to fame with his Davido impersonations in 2019, which helped him gain traction in the entertainment industry. While his comedy career flourished, he has since shifted focus back to his musical roots. His debut single Umbrella, featuring Wande Coal, was released in late 2023 and quickly became a viral hit.
Despite the setback, Nasboi’s determination to make a mark in the music scene appears undeterred, with many fans praising his resilience and creativity.
