The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has stated that it will not tolerate the use of any illegal broadcast signal within or outside Nigeria to promote disunity among citizens of Nigeria.
The apex body of the Yoruba self-determination struggle, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, IOOW, had declared that it will formally reveal Radio Ijangbara as the official broadcast radio of the self-determination movement on New Year’s Day: Sunday, January 1, 2023.
The online radio would be broadcast live from Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, UAE.
According to a joint statement signed by both the Chairman and General Secretary of the IOOW group, Professor Wale Adeniran, and Dr. Tunde Amusat respectively, the radio will serve the interest of the Yoruba self-determination struggle within and outside Nigeria.
However, the NBC in a statement signed by the Director General of the Commission, Mall Balarabe Shehu Ilelah remarked that no person shall operate or transmit anywhere in Nigeria without the prior approval of the Broadcasting Commission.
