The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is taking action to combat cultism and drug addiction among students and other Akwa Ibom community members.
The initiative, which was restarted by NDDC’s acting managing director, Emmanuel Audu-Ohwavborua, aims to preserve peace in the area by raising awareness of the dangers of drug usage and cultism among young people, particularly secondary school students.
Speaking at a one-day campaign titled “Dangers of Drug Abuse and Cultism” over the weekend in Uyo, Audu-Ohwavborua claimed that the two vices were destroying the young generation’s bright future.
Youths must escape the twin issues of cultism and drug misuse to be able to contribute to the development of the region, according to Audu-Ohwavboua, who was speaking on behalf of the Director of Youths and Sports, NDDC, Mr. Offiong Ephraim.
