The fight against illicit drugs is still ongoing, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, arrested 352 suspects and confiscated 2.1 tonnes of illegal drugs in Kano state.
This information was released by Mr. Abubakar Idris Ahmed, the NDLEA Commander in the state, in an interview with news respondents in Kano on Thursday.
According to Idris Ahmed, the arrests were made between January and March.
He further said that the major problem they’ve faced is the refusal of the members of the communities to expose the hideout of these illicit drug peddlers.
And that’s why they’ve taken to the challenge to educate members of the communities to cooperate and provide information about the hideout of these persons as continual use of drugs will stall the progress of the community.
“Our challenge is being able to educate the communities to provide useful information about the hideouts of drug users or peddlers whose activities had continued to impact negatively on the society.
“People should be aware of the dangers that drug users or traffickers constitute in the society so that the public will come out with useful information to ensure a drug-free society”.
