The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has disregarded a viral video that purportedly depicted its agents acting improperly while on duty.
Some people in NDLEA jackets appeared to be using narcotics inside a minibus in the now widely shared video.
The NDLEA’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, emphasized in a statement on Tuesday that “those people in the video are not NDLEA officers.”
According to the agency, Matthew C Eze, a content creator, created the video, which is an old skit.
The representative further stated that the film had been rejected by the NDLEA in May 2022.
The NDLEA also advised content creators to use police enforcement accouterments “responsibly to avoid misconceptions”.
The agency also said that using official jackets improperly will result in repercussions.
