The Nigerian Elections Debate Group, NEDG, and the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, BON, have both postponed a presidential debate previously scheduled to hold today, Thursday, January 26, 2023.
It was gathered that the candidates who would be participating in the debate were eligible to run their political jingle in the cause of the program, and this was to go for a price of N500,000.
According to a letter obtained by The PUNCH newspapers and signed by the NEDG Executive Secretary, Edidi Emessiri, on January 18, the debate was scheduled to hold in Abuja in an undisclosed venue as the organizers wanted the information to be private and confidential.
But when contacted on Thursday, January 26 to enquire about the event, the NEDG secretary, Emessiri, confirmed that the debate had been postponed ‘based on logistics’ him, but he had not volunteered any additional information regarding the new date, rather saying that discussions were still on.
