The world has become a global village because the Internet brings people far and near together in order to share ideas and resources online with just at a click of a computer or a mobile phone.

Although development has affected the Nation positively,  but this is also without a negative consequences to our country where cyber criminal activities has dented the image of the country internationally. These activities are gaining ground and gradually becoming a society norm if not properly checkmated now.

In the modern day Nigeria, it is even more prevalent to see some youth in the village enrolling to some cyber crime organization known as HK (Hustle Kingdom), where they are handed over to a gang leader who teaches them how to use the internet to commit fraud and live flamboyantly in the society.

This norm, if not properly checked, will continue to produce youth who will constitute all form of nuisance in the society with their criminal activities, and some even go the extral miles of using their loved ones for money rituals.

Some of the ways these activities among the youth can be discouraged include:

PROPER PARENTAL UPBRINGING AND CHILDREN DISCIPLINE

It is a known fact that the family is the basic unit of every society and all children in the society belongs to a family. As such, parents should ensure that children are inculcated on the do’s and donts of the society by correct them properly when they go against society norms, and also ensure they are checked properly when they bring certain items home that they shouldnt be able to afford at a very young age.

RIGHT MORAL TEACHING BY THE RELIGIOUS BODIES

The various religious bodies should as a matter of urgency discourage and preach against cyber crime and other vices among youth, no matter how attractive it may look . The idea of telling youths to bring laptops and mobile phones to church for annoiting to make their Client’s pay them huge amount or miracle money should be discourage as well.

PROSECUTION OF CYBER CRIMINALS BY LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES

The law enforcement agencies in the country should wake up to their responsibilities of fighting all forms of societal crime by properly prosecuting cyber criminals, and not aiding them to commit more crime. The law enforcement agencies on their part have over the years failed to prosecute cyber criminals according to law as they collect huge amount of money from them when arrested to set them free.

PROVISION OF EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR GRADUATES

13.9 million Nigerian youth are unemployed - NBS - Nairametrics

The government should rise to the responsibility of providing employment opportunities for graduates at all levels so as to prevent them from going into cyber crimes .

Cyber crime is eating deep into our culture as a hard-working nation, and as such, it requires the collective responsibility of every individual to be stopped before it degenerates into other vices that will affect the country negatively now and in the future.
