Rapper Sean Combs, widely known as Diddy, is now expected to leave prison earlier than previously projected as he continues efforts to challenge his four-year sentence.

Combs, who is serving time on prostitution-related convictions, will now be released approximately six weeks ahead of schedule. His former release date of June 4, 2028, has been adjusted to April 25, 2028, according to records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons cited by Page Six and reported by The Sun.

The music mogul is currently serving a 50-month sentence at Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey.

New Development In Diddy Case As Early Release Date Emerges

The revised release date follows his enrollment in a drug-abuse rehabilitation programme in November. At the time, a representative for Combs said, “Mr Combs is an active participant in the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) and has taken his rehabilitation process seriously from the start.

“He is fully engaged in his work, focused on growth, and committed to positive change.”

The update marks another shift in his projected release timeline. Initially scheduled for May 8, 2028, his release date was later extended to June 4, 2028, after he was accused of breaching prison rules.

Reports alleged that Combs consumed homemade alcohol and took part in an unauthorized three-way phone call. TMZ claimed the improvised drink was created using sugar, Fanta, and apples left to ferment for two weeks.

However, his legal team challenged aspects of the allegations, particularly regarding the phone call, arguing it was protected under attorney-client privilege.

A spokesperson told Page Six, “Mr. Combs is in his first week at FCI Fort Dix and is focused on adjusting, working on himself, and doing better each day.

“As with any high-profile individual in a new environment, there will be many rumours and exaggerated stories throughout his time there—most of them untrue.

“We ask that people give him the benefit of the doubt, the privacy to focus on his personal growth with grace and purpose.”

Recently released images published by TMZ showed the Bad Boy Records founder inside the facility for the first time. He was seen wearing a grey pullover and sweatpants, sporting a grey goatee, and smiling while walking through a prison corridor.

Before his sentencing, Combs issued a four-page letter expressing remorse. In it, he wrote, “I literally lost my mind. I’m sorry for that and always will be… I lost my way. My downfall was rooted in my selfishness.

“I have been humbled and broken to my core… The old me died in jail and a new version of me was born. Prison will change you or kill you – I choose to live.”

Combs celebrated his 56th birthday behind bars with a pizza meal and has reportedly been working in the prison’s laundry unit.

Meanwhile, his legal challenges continue. In December, he filed an appeal seeking either immediate release or a reduced sentence, claiming prosecutors failed to establish key elements of their case and arguing that the punishment infringed on his constitutional rights. Prosecutors opposed the appeal in February.

Combs has been incarcerated since his arrest in September 2024. He was convicted on two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution but was cleared of racketeering and sex trafficking charges—acquittals that prevented a significantly longer sentence.

His legal team also considered pursuing a presidential pardon from Donald Trump. Trump acknowledged the request, stating, “A lot of people have asked me for pardons. I call him Puff Daddy; he has asked me for a pardon.”
