Nicolas Jackson was the star of the show as Chelsea eased their way to a 3-0 victory against West Ham at the London Stadium, scoring two first-half goals to give the Blues a third win in five Premier League games under new manager Enzo Maresca.
Jackson opened the scoring just four minutes in, racing onto Jadon Sancho’s pass to beat West Ham’s Alphonse Areola with ease. He added a second in the 18-minute mark, finishing off a well-crafted move assisted by Moises Caicedo. A double from Jackson, which came after Maresca had shown faith in him over Christopher Nkunku, despite the latter’s match-winning display against Bournemouth last weekend.
The Senegal striker, who signed a contract extension earlier this month, has now taken his tally to four goals in six games in all competitions this season as he slowly but surely gets into his groove after a mixed debut season with the Blues.
Anyhow, Chelsea dominated the second half of the match, rounded off by Cole Palmer in the 47th minute from a tight angle. The win means Chelsea has recorded its third win away from home this season, thus keeping them firmly in the race for a top-four finish.
The poor start for West Ham under new manager Julen Lopetegui continues as the Hammers have now lost three consecutive home games, which has now left the Spaniard under increasing pressure.
