At least four people in Niger State have drowned while fleeing bandits attack in Gurmana community of Shiroro Local Government Area.
The community residents had a habit of boarding a canoe that will take them to an island in the area where they usually hide from the attackers who have made it a habit to storm the Shiroro local government for their nefarious activities.
The drowning incident had occurred on Thursday after the residents who had fled to the nearby island to hide the previous day were returning home. It was said that the boat had suddenly capsized.
Meanwhile 3 residents had been felled by the bandits on a Wednesday night attack. The bandits had also stolen cattle, and abducted scores of in the nearby community of Bassa, close to Gurmana.
The Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, has yet to confirm this ugly incident as at the time of filing this report on Friday morning.
