The Federal Republic of Nigeria has been ranked the eighth most terrorized country globally in 2022, according to the latest reports. This means that Nigeria dropped from its sixth position in 2021.
This report was compiled by the 2023 Global Terrorism Index and had been released recently.
Previously, between 2017 and 2020, Nigeria had been ranked the fourth most terrorized nation in the world, and in 2016 and 2015, it ranked second.
The Boko Haram insurgency and the Islamic State West Africa Province have occasioned the death of thousands of Nigerians in the northeast region since 2009, but the groups had grown more restrained in 2022.
