Fola David, a Nigerian doctor and hyper-realism artist, has set a new Guinness World Record for the largest drawing by an individual. This remarkable achievement took place in Lagos, where David aimed to create a 1000-square-meter artwork that showcases Nigeria’s diverse cultures. He began his six-day endeavor on July 16 at Onikan Stadium.
By the fourth day, David had surpassed the previous record of 629.98 square meters, reaching 689 square meters, with a goal of covering over 1000 square meters by the end of the project. His progress and determination have been widely celebrated on social media.
Notable Nigerians, including Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party; Hilda Baci, a former Guinness World Record holder; and businessman Farooq Oreagba, have visited David to show their support. Additionally, representatives from the College of Medicine University of Lagos, where David is an alumnus, came to encourage him.
David’s accomplishment highlights his dedication to both his artistic and medical careers, as well as the strong community support he has received throughout this ambitious project.
