Targeting a bandit camp nearby, the military jet’s pilots “accidentally” struck the incorrect location.
On Wednesday, tragedy struck when a fighter plane operated by the Nigerian Air Force bombed the town of Kunkuna in the Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing an unknown number of residents.
Although information about the incident is still hazy, it was learned that the military jet’s pilots “accidentally” struck the wrong coordinates while trying to target a bandit camp nearby.
“A military jet earlier today dropped airstrikes on Kunkuna Village in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State. We cannot confirm the number of casualties now,” a source said.
Terrorists had earlier attacked a front crew in President Muhammadu Buhari’s motorcade on Tuesday in Katsina.
In the past, villagers in northeastern Nigeria have reported some civilian casualties from aerial bombardments.
