The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army Major General OC Ajunwa has cautioned soldiers and their family members completely abstain from the abuse of drugs, as it as “a displeasing trend capable of wrecking their lives.”
General Ajunwa had made this call during a sensitization lecture on substance/drug abuse planned for soldiers and their family members and held at the Command Day Secondary School Auditorium, Ikeja on Saturday, 27 May.
The GOC who was represented by Commander Division Equipment Support, Colonel Emmanuel Omoba, while making a comment at the sensitization lecture had mentioned that the event was designed to create awareness on the increasing incidences of drug abuse amongst soldiers and most particularly, their family members as well as it consequences within the barracks.
Gen Ajunwa also highlighted that abuse of drugs amongst military personnel and their family members could lead to a serious catastrophe if not quickly addressed.
Ajunwa finally encouraged parents to put in extra effort in their parental duties to ensure a good upbringing for their children.
