The Bauchi State Police Command for North-East Nigeria has sworn to nab the culprits responsible for the removal of the eye of a 12-year-old Islamic School student in the area. According to reports, the boy was an indigene of Kano state who had traveled to Bauchi to study at the Islamic school located in the area.
In a statement made by the Spokesperson for the Police Command, Ahmed Wakil, he said that the current suspects were ritualists visiting Unguwan Yamma where the school is located. The alleged ritualists arrived via motorcycle and called on the boy to assist them in calling one woman from the house for them. It was as the boy was following them that they seized him, dragged him into an isolated area, and removed his right eye.
Fortunately for the boy, he managed to stagger to a crowded location where some of his fellow students spotted him and rushed him to their teacher. As of the time of writing, the boy is receiving treatment at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa hospital.
The Commissioner of Police, Aminu Alhassan loudly denounced the incident and advised the public to remain on guard against strangers and suspicious movements to avoid a repeat of the dastardly act. He further reiterated the police’s commitment to arresting the perpetrators and preventing them from escaping justice.
