Nigerian soldiers had on Saturday, 17 December, besieged Igbo-Efon in the Eti-Osa local government area of Lagos in unmarked vehicles over a chieftaincy title tussle.
The military men had arrived at the locality at about 5 pm to unleash mayhem on residents.
According to residents, the soldiers had been deployed to do the bidding of the Abogun family, currently involved in a legal tussle over a chieftaincy title in the community.
The heavily-armed soldiers were seen stationed around the residence of the traditional ruler of the community (Baale), the school road, and the road leading to Igbo Efon.
An eyewitness who spoke to news reporters on the phone stated that several army vehicles loaded with soldiers had taken over Igbo-Efon.
