Nigerians have recently taken to social media to bash President Buhari, tagging him insensitive and nonchalant over his comment where he had revealed that he could not wait to return to Daura after he hands over to the President-elect and possibly relocate to Niger Republic if he’s pestered too much by Nigerians.
However, Garba Shehu, the official Spokesperson to the President on Media and Publicity had while speaking on Channels TV on Thursday, May 25, dismissed claims that Buhari’s comment was inconsiderate and disloyal to Nigerians.
According to Shehu, the comment was simply Buhari’s way of throwing banters and did not mean anything serious.
In his own words:
“Even after eight years, Nigerians must get used to the President’s sense of humor.”
Additionally, Shehu attributed the comment to mean that the president had cultivated tremendous relationship with Nigeria’s neighbouring countries.
