The Nigerian Meteorological Agency and the Nnamdi Azikiwe University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to build a weather station at the university.
This news was made known to the general public via a statement by Muntari Ibrahim, NiMet’s General Manager, Public Relations, on Friday.
The MoU was duly signed by Charles Esimone the Vice-Chancellor of UNIZIK, on behalf of the institution’s governing council, while the Director General of NiMet, Charles Anosike, signed the memorandum on behalf of NiMet at their office headquarters in FCT Abuja on Friday.
Anosike who spoke at the signing ceremony, had urged the management of UNIZIK to take leadership in downscaling NiMet’s annually issued Seasonal Climate Prediction to farmers and other users in Anambra state and beyond.
According to the MoU, the partnership to build a weather station in the university was a commendable achievement for NiMet as the partnership will make sure that farmers and other users receive suitable weather and climate information.
In his response, Esimone expressed his thanks to Anosike for the opportunity to partner with NiMet.
