Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has issued a public apology to Big Brother Naija season 10 winner, Imisioluwa Eniola Ayanwale, popularly known as Imisi, following the backlash that trailed a question she asked at the reality star’s birthday celebration on January 27, 2026.
The actress had come under fire after a video from the star-studded Lagos party showed her taking the microphone to ask Imisi whether she had forgiven her mother.
The moment reportedly created an awkward atmosphere at the event, with the celebrant becoming emotional, a development that many social media users felt took attention away from the joyous occasion.
Addressing the criticism, Nkechi Blessing released a video message explaining that her actions were misunderstood. She stressed that she had no intention of drawing attention to herself or hurting the celebrant.
“I sincerely want to apologize to anybody who got offended with the question that I asked Imisi,” the actress said.
She added that the question was motivated by genuine concern, drawing from her personal experiences.
“My question came from a place of concern. I wanted to make sure she held no regrets, as my own relationship with my late mother made me value these moments.”
Nkechi Blessing further clarified that Imisi’s emotional reaction was not born out of sadness but happiness, insisting that her aim was to promote emotional healing rather than spark controversy.
She also appealed to critics to ease the backlash, while asking Imisi’s fanbase, known as the “Imistars,” for understanding. The actress concluded by reaffirming her affection for Imisi and offering heartfelt good wishes to the BBNaija star.
