The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has strongly warned petroleum sellers to stop holding onto fuel and doing dishonest things during the holiday season.
On Wednesday in Osogbo, Kunle Adeyemo, NMDPRA State Coordinator Kunle Adeyemo, said that sellers who keep fuel or change pump settings unfairly will be punished. This information came from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Adeyemo assured the public that there is enough fuel at storage facilities across the country. He warned sellers not to engage in activities like product diversion, under-dispensing, adulteration, and unsafe practices at retail outlets.
Adeyemo stated, “Petroleum products can be found in all the depots across the country. Marketers should avoid actions like diverting supplies, under-dispensing, hoarding, adulteration, and unsafe acts in petroleum retail outlets. Anyone found doing these things will face the right punishment.”
He also asked drivers not to rush to buy fuel in large amounts and advised against keeping fuel at home because it could lead to fire accidents.
“People should avoid storing gasoline or other fuel at home, because such action can cause fire outbreaks,” he cautioned.
