The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, have refuted the claims of Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa, who is alleging that its leader, Nnamdi Kanu’s letter was not genuine.
Emma Powerful, the IPOB spokesman, had insisted that Kanu’s letter ordering Ekpa to terminate his planned sit-at-home order in the Southeast was real and authentic.
Recall that on Friday, July 29, Kanu had sent out a handwritten letter to Ekpa, directing him to cancel the proposed Southeast sit-at-home.
Kanu, while still in detention had sent out the letter through his Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor.
Powerful had confirmed the letter, saying that Ekpa’s allegations that Kanu’s letter was a fake was all part of his plan to cause mischief.
A statement released by the IPOB spokesperson on Saturday partly reads:
“It is relevant to make an announcement disassociating Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB from the distasteful enforcement of the sit-at-home order, to the public to avoid consequences on innocent citizens.
“Kanu, in his sagacity had sent the message to the infiltrators through the correct channel and a source they should trust. Therefore, the claims that Kanu’s handwritten note is a fake, is in line with their plans to perpetrate mischief and continue blackmailing IPOB and Kanu as a whole, with the aggressive enforcement of the notorious sit-at-homes used to terrorize our people.
“We comprehend that a power-crazy crime ‘Minister’ with an insignificant kangaroo defacto government in exile, will disregard the order for the fear of deflating his engorged ego.
“The letter from our leader disassociating himself and IPOB people from the notorious sit-at-homes is being distributed to all Nigeria Security Agencies, as well as to all foreign Embassies in Abuja.”
