NNPC search for oil in Niger, Borno
Following the discovery of crude oil in the states of Bauchi and Gombe, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited is searching for the resource in additional areas throughout the north.
To strengthen the nation’s oil output and reserves, NNPC said it was currently implementing concerted actions for greater frontier exploration in the area.
This was stated by the business in a document that TheCable was able to obtain on the NNPC’s activities for frontier exploration services from 2020 to 2022.
The memo listed several potential states where the NNPC anticipated finding oil, including Niger, Nasarawa, Sokoto, Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Bauchi, and Gombe.
The Anambra basin was identified as another region where the NNPC was looking to locate extra oil, in addition to the North.
The initial step in finding an oil or gas field is prospecting, during which seismic surveys are conducted.
