Veteran Nollywood actor Norbert Young and his wife, Gloria, have opened up about their seven-year challenge with childlessness.
In an interview on Love Notes With Tope, Gloria discussed the challenges they encountered as a young couple.
Gloria shared that the experience felt more like a personal struggle for her, as Norbert stayed calm and frequently offered her reassurance.
She shared that the situation affected her more deeply, as she dealt with external pressures and her own internal anxieties.
Gloria also pointed out that, unlike Norbert’s family, who never raised the issue of children, her own family regularly brought it up.
“I was childless for seven years. However, it was a challenge more for me but it was not for him,” she said.
“He kept asking me why I was worried but I was the one feeling it more and seeing things. However, nobody in his family ever asked about it but they did in my family.”
Norbert also mentioned that he wasn’t troubled by the situation, as he has a sister who went through 16 years of childlessness.
“I didn’t see it as a challenge. I had a sister who was married for 16 years without a child, and on the 17th year, she had a child,” he said.
“Her husband did not tell her to leave and that child today is a medical doctor. The childlessness didn’t threaten our union at all.”
The couple married in April 2002, and they have a daughter together.
