The Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, has shut down Ekehen Station in Edo State indefinitely after yet-to-be-identified gunmen attacked the train station.
The station is located in the Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State, South-South Nigeria.
This latest development was announced in a public announcement by the NRC which was posted on the passengers’ WhatsApp Group and obtained by The PUNCH newspapers. The announcement stated that the decision was a necessary one, following the rising security challenges in the state.
The statement read, “Public Announcement: This is to inform the general public and most especially our esteemed passengers, that the Ekehen Station has been temporarily closed down due to security issues, till further notice.”
