The Delta State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Akinsanya, has pledged to secure all INEC offices and installations in the state’s 25 Local Councils as the general elections get closer.
The State Commander, who made this announcement yesterday, also guaranteed that all political developments would be closely watched to study threats and determine how to counter them. He also added that his men would remain vigilant and strengthen security measures in the state.
Abiodun stated that “there would be a deployment of over 4,000 people to operate in coordination with other sister security agencies for a peaceful conduct of next month’s general elections” when revealing his command’s 2023 estimates in Asaba.
In addition, he promised to deploy workers to all crucial national infrastructure and assets, stressing that this would be done by retraining and training personnel to be more effective in light of the upcoming general elections.
The head of the NSCDC emphasized that his organization will, “through good coordination, provide avenues for feedback from employees, communities, the public, civil society groups, and the grassroots.”
Regarding the Safe Schools Initiative, he noted that his troops would frequently visit both public and private schools to provide proper protection both inside and outside of school grounds.
Adding that his men would work in coordination with private security guards hired by private schools to ensure adequate supervision of security operations in and around schools for the maximum protection of lives and property, he said he had written to the school about the need to provide a perimeter fence.
